Ross Wiseman

Videographer / Video Editor

I have always loved cinema; the art of visual storytelling is almost an obsession. Ever since graduating from Glasgow Clyde College in 2015 I have worked as a freelancer and as my career has progressed I have worked with many clients with different requirements on a variety of projects. In 2020 my wife and I moved to Norden, Germany and lived there for over 3 years, but are back in Scotland since 2024. If you are interested in working with me, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Editing

I LOVE editing. I get to work surrounded by the comforts of home? Yes please, sign me up. I’m never more in my element than when I’ve got my headphones in tapping away at that keyboard. I have been using Da Vinci Resolve since I started using my Blackmagic Camera, but I also have a lot of experience with Adobe Premiere Pro!

filming

My gear includes – Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6k, DJI Ronin SC gimbal, Cayer fluid head video tripod, Rode videomic and several rode lapel mics. And a variety of Cannon and Sigma lenses.

(Please ask me about any of my stuff because I love talking about it…)

directing

It’s not so often you get to direct your own project so I’m thankful for the 48hr film project which makes it possible to gather a small team of passionate volunteers to make something special over just one weekend!

I entered the competition two years in a row with my own team and the second time around I won Best Director and we also won Best Use Of Line Of Dialogue! You can have a look at it down below.

streams

These past few years there has been a huge rise in streaming mainly due to “the virus that must not be named”

Despite the reason, I loved getting involved in my churches livestream and now regulary run the Sunday service stream almost every week.

After recently purchasing my own switcher I can now offer this service to clients!

music

I have been making music since the momemt I could hold a tune. There is nothing more relaxing for me than either jamming with friends or reworking a melody on Garageband.

I have composed my own music for various projects which means there is less hassle in sourcing royalty free tracks or purchasing extra music!

You Are Enough

This short film devised by ELAJ Studios was a finalist in the renowned german “Niedersächsischer Jugendkulturpreis 2022” (Youth Culture Award 2022). I worked as a cinematographer and editor on this short film with first time writer/directors about a teenagers struggles with self-worth.

Alpha – 48 Hours

ALPHA is our award-winning 48hr film project production! We learned a lot from our previous attempt and our team pulled out all the stops to make this short the best it could be.

I entered the competition a few times with the brilliant Team Dropshack before eventually forming my own. I can’t recommend the 48hr film project enough for upcoming filmmakers to hone their skills or as a great challenge for those of you who are more experienced. It’s stressful, but always worth it!

Gospel Sketchbook

From 2016-2019 I was hired to create 24 short 10-15 minute films to go alongside 24 paintings by Glasgow artist Iain Campbell. Each painting was inspired by a different chapter in the gospel of Luke set in modern day Glasgow. Iain often painted real people with some connection to the story he was painting so I was able to interview these people and share their, often powerful, stories through my films.

Interested?

From my student days until now I have tried almost every role you can think of behind (and in front!) of the camera. I have always had a special interest in editing and post-production but that doesn’t mean that I don’t occasionally enjoy picking up my camera, getting my feet dirty, and getting out on location whatever the weather! I have experience in Directing, Producing, Writing, Camera Operating, Lighting, Sound Recording, Data Wrangling, Editing and Sound Mixing.

If you reckon you need someone with my skillset for your project then don’t hesitate to get in touch!
